Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP).
Scholarships & Bursaries
Students may find out about external scholarships through online searches, checking the Scholarship Binder in the Student Services office, listening to morning announcements, and checking the bulletin board outside of Student Services.
When searching online, refine or narrow your search (sometimes under “advanced search”) whenever possible, save your searches (ex. in “my stuff” on scholarshipscanada.com), and edit your profile to alter the list of scholarships you are given.

Colleges/Universities: On specific college and university websites there will be information on scholarships/financial awards/bursaries that they offer. Check the websites of the schools you are interested in attending and look for a link to their financial aid or financial services section.

**Please note: a "graduating" student is a student who is graduating at the end of the current school year. Students who graduated in the previous year who returned to EDHS are not eligible to apply to scholarships that are specifically for "graduating" students; they may apply to others if they fit the criteria.

Chris Minty Memorial Scholarship|
is awarded to a graduating student continuing to post-secondary education in the field of Business or Business Marketing
Coronation Lodge Masonic Association Award|
is awarded to a graduating student who is proceeding to further study or employment in a technical training field
Elmvale and District Lions Club Award|
is awarded annually to a deserving male graduate and female graduate who have made good progress and contributed to their school and community.
Elmvale Foodland Scholarship|
is awarded to an outstanding male and female graduate who has exhibited both scholarship and leadership in extra-curricular activities, and is proceeding to post- secondary studies.
Elmvale and District Horticultural Society Award
is awarded to a graduating student proceeding to further study in horticulture or agriculture related fields.

Larry Clement Memorial Agricultural Award|
is awarded to a graduating student who is proceeding to further study in the field of agriculture
|A,B,C,D,E||Michael C. Baker Memorial Award for Compassion and Service||is awarded to two graduates who exemplify service to the poor and marginalized. The recipients are students who have shown compassion, encouragement, and real help towards those who need it most. *NOTE: The donors are requesting a 200-word explanation from each recipient outlining what it has personally meant to him/her to help those in need and those on the edge of society with their compassion and service|
Mikey's Place for Autism Award|
is awarded to a graduate who is enrolled in a post-secondary program for DSW, ECE, EA or similar program designed to work with individuals with special needs.
Murray MacInnes Memorial Scholarship|
is awarded to a graduate who is pursuing a post-secondary education either in a BSW, DSW or a CYW program at an Ontario institution
is awarded to a graduating student who is pursuing entrepreneurship aspirations or pursuing a career in a skilled trade or apprenticeship program
Noble Insurance Business Scholarship|
is awarded to a graduating student who is pursuing a post-secondary education in a business studies program.
North Simcoe Community Futures Development Corporation Scholarship|
is awarded to a graduating student who is pursuing a career in a skilled trade or an apprenticeship program.
Ontario Principals' Council Student Leadership Award|
is awarded to a graduating student who has demonstrated a strong sense of personal growth and leadership.
Quota International of Huronia Scholarship|
is awarded to a graduate pursuing post-secondary studies in Social Services, studies affiliated with abused women and/or children, or Health Sciences
Royal Canadian Legion Scholarship|
in memory of Jack Whitton - is awarded to a graduating student who has excelled in History

Whitfield's Guardian Pharmacy Community Service Award|
is awarded to a graduate who has unselfishly gone beyond the forty hours of community service required to graduate.
A - graduating this year, not returning next year, proceeding to post-secondary this year
B - graduating this year, not returning next year, not proceeding to post-secondary next year
C - graduating this year, returning next year
D - graduated last year ("victory lap"), proceeding to post secondary this year
E - graduated last year ("victory lap"), not proceeding to post-secondary this year
A bursary is primarily based on financial need as opposed to merit. EDHS offers one bursary. Applications must be submitted as paper copies, since a completed OSAP application is required. Applications are due June 8, 2018 at 3:30 pm

Terms & Definitions
"graduate" – fifth year returners who already graduated may apply
"graduating" – only students receiving their diplomas this June may apply
"post-secondary education" – refers to college, apprenticeship, or university
Award - Something given to recognize a person's merit and accomplishments, according to criteria outlined by the person or institution granting the award. An award may be monetary or it may be signified by certificates, trophies or other public acknowledgements. It does not require repayment.
Bursary - A monetary award that is granted to a student based on financial need. A bursary does not require repayment; academic standing may be considered
Grant - Funds that are given to a student for a specific purpose, such as specialized research or academic projects. A grant does not require repayment.
Non-Renewable - A non-renewable scholarship is awarded for one year only. However, schools that offer these scholarships often offer additional upper-year scholarships.
Renewable - A scholarship is called "renewable" if the recipient can receive the scholarship for more than one year. Each year, the recipient must meet the university's or college’s stated criteria in order to continue receiving the scholarship.
Scholarship - Financial aid provided to a student in order to fund their academic studies. Unlike a loan, a scholarship does not require repayment. Scholarships are granted based on criteria outlined by the person or institution granting the award, including academic merit, financial need, extracurricular activities or other distinctions. You may have to apply for certain scholarships, and you may be automatically considered for others. On eINFO, the following scholarship terms are used:
"Application Required" means that you must submit an application in order to be considered for the award.
"Application Not Required" means that you will be automatically considered for the award when you apply to the university or college - no application is necessary.
